famous freestyles
Sweet Symphony (2010)
Kur produced for Malaysian rider Quzandria Nur and her horse Handsome. Winning the Silver Medal at the
Asian Games 2010 Musical Freestyle. The music for this kur is based on The Eurhythmics `Sweet Dreams`
and a mix of other famous 80´s tracks blended with big string arrangements. Great example of using drums
samples for a Freestyle.
Synfonia del Cavallo (2010)
Kur produces for Malaysian rider Qabil Ambak and Wup. They earned the Bronze medal with this kur at the
Asian Games 2010. The choreography for this kur was created by Joyce Heutinck, owner of Wup.
The music for this kur is one of my own compositions inspired by watching the video of Wup.
Again with Sjoerd Rutten on drums.
Totally Totilas (2009)
Kür voor Edward Gal en Moorlands Totilas. Geproduceerd in maart 2009.
Kur produced for Mischa Koot and U2. Based on the music of Michael Jackson and finished three weeks before his death!
Gave us shivers!! One of the reasons why this kur is very special for the both of us. With a surprising arrangement for “Ben”
at the beginning of the trot and the famous voice of Vince Price in the entrance: “Can You Dig It?”
Michael Jackson Kür 2 (2009)
Caused by the renewed interest for Michael Jackson’s music I had a lot of requests for Michael Jackson base kurs.
But I have a golden rule since I’ve started producing kurs back in 2000; “Never use the same music twice! This to guarantee
originality for all my clients. But for the very talented rider Angela Krooswijk we’ve made an exception. On the condition that I
would use no songs that I’ve already used for Mischa Koot’s kur. She agreed and the result is the Michael Jackson kur who
delivered her the title Dutch Champion Junior Riders 2010!
Artemis in Motion (2008)
Kur produced for Richard Davison and Artemis. This kur is the brainchild of Lady Derby, owner of Artemis. She asked
personal friend Elton John to write music for the new Grand Prix freestyle for Artemis who in his turn awarded the commission
to me. I’ve rearranged the music of Elton John to fit the choreography of the kur and recorded the music with the
Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on September 2nd 2008 after approval was granted by Elton John. The addition drums by
Sjoerd Rutten were recorded at Galaxy Studios, Belgium where the music was also mixed and mastered. The première of this
kur was at the Olympia Horse Show in London 2008 and I was seated between Prince Andrew and Sir Time Rice. Very exciting
evening!
In 2010 this kur is revised for the Olympia 2010 show to match the highly improved performance of Artemis
Happy Together (2007)
Kur produced for Hans Peter Minderhoud and Exquis Nadine, based on flower power music from the 70´s.
Made Sir Tim Rice sing along at the Olympia London Show. With this kur Hans Peter Minderhoud ended at the 5th place
individual at the Beijing Olympic Games 2008. Listen to “Turn, turn, turn” in the Pirouettes. Everything turns, turns, turns……
Spirit of Sunrise (2006)
Kur produced for Imke Schellekens/Bartels and Hunter Douglas Sunrise. The music is composed by famous pianist
Wibi Soerjadi who also played the Grand Piano in this kur. Also features Sjoerd Rutten on drums and Joost Vergoossen on Guitars.
I played the bass guitar on this freestyle. Highest result for this kur is Silver Medal at the World Cup Final 2007
Queen Kür (2005)
Kur produced for Laurens van Lieren and Hexagons Ollright. This kur, based on the music of Queen, delivered me my
international breakthrough. With a very surprising entrance , in which we used both passage as well as extended trot,
and the pinpoint precise flying changes on the circle on the music of “Another One Bites The Dust” and the goose bump
delivering end with music from Bohemian Rhapsody. Timeless Freestyle!
